Our whole system has to be changed. Having a roof over our heads shouldn't be something controlled by others and making profits. Nobody should make money off housing. Nobody should own housing. It should be owned by the government. I'd rather pay my rent to the government. Giving my money to someone who owns real estate only to pay off his lifestyle is absurd. We're all fucked.

Toronto is chockablock full of “investor” units, those 1 bdrm + den condos that no one would buy to live in themselves, and where market rents cannot cover the mortgages at today’s rates.

At least they have enough money to lose. My sister sold her house in Pickering a year or so ago and bought a brand new one in Port Hope.
